Ryan, Megan, Alex, and Katie's Charleston Itinerary
Saturday, December 13, 2014 - Sunday, December 14, 2014
Howdy, everyone! A few weeks ago, we took a trip to the Carolinas. To keep up with traditions, the weather was bad, and Alex had to be taken to an urgent care clinic. We have come to expect this when travelling to that area of the country, now. This time, we are flying into South Carolina but making a quick scurry off to Georgia for most of the trip. Hopefully this will avoid any unexpected illness. After all, most of us are still dealing with nasty colds, and we'd like to get better - not worse. Anyway, this trip involved lots of last-minute planning, so who knows what we'll actually do. It's a quickie, though, so let's go!
All times are local to the particular city. This trip will take place entirely in the Eastern Time Zone.
You know the drill. If we have signal and feel like setting up the webcam, the pictures above will start changing.

Please note that times are ESTIMATES only to give you an idea of what our original plans were. We get distracted and detoured easily, so just check the webcam and/or GPS tracker to get an idea of where we really are.
Saturday, December 13
We start off the day with a reasonable flight time of around 9am to make our way south to the land of 60-degree weather . We should be on the road by around noon, and we'll start making our way south west towards Savannah, but making a couple stops along the way. First, we'll pass through a small town in SC, which was used as the setting for several scenes from the movie Forrest Gump . After that, we'll drive down route 119 in Georgia to mark Katie's 19th state (umm, I think...) . If we can get into Savannah before 4pm, we'll be able to check out the Pin Point Heritage Museum before getting to our hotel around dinner time.
Sunday, December 14
It's the last day of our trip already?? Yep, I guess that's what you get when your spouse gets a new job and has no leave built up. Our first stop is actually right across the street from our hotel, and that's the Georgia State Railroad Museum . After that, we'll check out Old Fort Jackson and maybe a park or two in downtown Savannah . By around noon, we'll start heading up north, stopping by at least one oceanfront beach (perhaps Hunting Island State Park) . We should get back to Charleston by dinner time, and then it's time to fly home! And that's all, folks!
Where you at?? We are never 100% on time to our destinations, so we've taken all the guesswork out of figuring out where we are by broadcasting our GPS location. You'll need to manually refresh this page to see our latest movements, but so long as we get cell phone signal, you'll be able to see where we are!
And if that's not good enough, we've still got our guesstimated route highlighted below...
